Sonny Fernandez- Owner/Operator

Sonny grew up in Bakersfield, California. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 2008. In 2013 Sonny was selected to join an elite unit in the Marine Corps: The Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC), Multi-Purpose Canine Unit. At this unit, Sonny traveled the world for canine training. He became an expert in advanced obedience training, substance detection, controlled aggression, team protection, and tracking. During his time at MARSOC Sonny completed three combat deployments to the Middle East and Africa with his working dog named Diezel. After leaving the Marines in 2019 Sonny continued to work with family and friend’s pets to better the relationship between them and their owners. Sonny’s lifelong dedication to loving and learning about dogs is what pushed him to start Social Companion Canine Training with his wife and three children in North Texas.
